Interview English: Build · Self-Study Course
The complete 13-unit programme — every lesson, audio explanation, and practice quiz — giving you the vocabulary, grammar, and story framework to perform confidently in English-language job interviews, entirely at your own pace.
About the programme
Most interview preparation focuses on what to say. This programme focuses on how to say it — with the right vocabulary, accurate grammar, and a disciplined answer structure that interviewers recognise and respect.
Interview English: Build teaches you to identify what any behavioural question is really testing, choose the right story from your experience, and deliver it with the language precision that distinguishes a strong candidate at B2 level.
By the end of the programme you will have built a complete and portable language toolkit — eight vocabulary banks, a trained STAR structure, and a set of flexible stories ready to adapt for any question you encounter.
The core method
STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result — a four-part structure interviewers use to evaluate behavioural questions, and the framework this entire programme is built around.
| Situation | Set the context — when, where, and what was happening before you acted. |
| Task | What you were specifically responsible for, or what you were trying to achieve. |
| Action | The specific steps you actually took — not what the team did, what you did. |
| Result | The outcome — ideally stated as something measurable: a percentage, a timeframe, a scale. |
Interviewers rely on STAR because it forces concrete, verifiable evidence instead of vague generalisations. Most candidates already know the STAR method exists — but knowing the concept and actually executing it fluently, under pressure, in a second language are very different things.
That gap is exactly what this programme closes. Unit 2 introduces STAR as a language structure, not just a concept — the specific tense contrasts, sequencing phrases, and causal connectors each stage needs — and every unit afterwards trains you to build a real STAR story with the vocabulary of a different competency category, until it becomes automatic rather than something you have to consciously construct in the room.
Who this is for
|
You are applying for an international role and need to present your experience clearly and professionally in English. |
You speak English well in everyday work but find behavioural interview questions — “Tell me about a time when...” — difficult to answer precisely. |
|
You have strong professional experience but lack a structured approach for turning that experience into confident, well-formed answers. |
You want to build a set of prepared, flexible stories that can be adapted across multiple question types — not memorised scripts. |
The framework
This framework isn't drawn from a textbook. It comes from sitting on both sides of the interview table across a 25-year career in Investment Management and Banking, working as a Business Analyst and Project Manager across London, Luxembourg, and Paris — as a candidate answering these exact questions for real, and as an interviewer deciding who to hire.
Having interviewed candidates myself, I know precisely what separates an answer that actually lands from one that just sounds fluent. And having been interviewed many times over the course of that career, I know how differently that same distinction feels from the other side of the table, under real pressure.
These 8 categories are the recurring patterns I've seen, from both seats, in what interviewers are actually trying to assess — kept current through ongoing analysis of how those questions and expectations continue to shift.

How it works
Each unit is delivered through audio explanations paired with visual reference pages. You listen to the teaching, then use the on-screen content as a reference to return to. No passive reading — the audio carries the learning.
Each teaching block is followed immediately by a short quiz covering that block's language. You get feedback on every answer and can retry with guided hints. No question is left unanswered.
Every audio explanation comes with a full written transcript, so you can read along, review the exact wording, and revisit any point without replaying the audio.
The course includes a populated glossary of grammar and interview vocabulary. You can add your own entries as you study, building a personal reference alongside the course content.
The programme runs entirely on Moodle — no fixed session times. You complete each unit when it suits you. Teaching pages, quizzes, and audio remain available throughout the programme and after it ends.
Compare the options
This is not a cut-down version. You get every unit, every audio explanation, and every exercise and quiz from the Full Course — the teaching content is identical. It is a complete course in its own right.
