About the programme

Language-first preparation for behavioural interviews

Most interview preparation focuses on what to say. This programme focuses on how to say it — with the right vocabulary, accurate grammar, and a disciplined answer structure that interviewers recognise and respect.

Interview English: Build teaches you to identify what any behavioural question is really testing, choose the right story from your experience, and deliver it with the language precision that distinguishes a strong candidate at B2 level.

By the end of the programme you will have built a complete and portable language toolkit — eight vocabulary banks, a trained STAR structure, and a set of flexible stories ready to adapt for any question you encounter — with every one of your answers checked along the way.

The complete experience

Study the language. Then have your own answers checked.

The teaching can show you what a strong interview answer sounds like. What it cannot do on its own is tell you where your answers fall short — the tense that slips under pressure, the vocabulary choice that sounds almost right, the Result stage that ends without a measurable outcome.

That is what the Full Course adds. At the end of every unit you complete a three-part homework assignment, and your tutor reviews all three parts and sends you written feedback through Moodle — so the errors you would otherwise carry into the interview room are caught and corrected unit by unit.

1. Controlled transformation. A focused exercise on the unit’s target grammar and vocabulary, checking that you can use each form accurately before you use it freely.

2. Written production. You write your own answer using the unit’s language — built from your real experience, not a model answer.

3. Recorded STAR story. You record yourself delivering a STAR story aloud, the closest practice to answering in a real interview.

Personal written feedback. Your tutor reviews all three parts and tells you exactly what worked, what to fix, and how to fix it.

If you want the most thorough preparation available — and certainty that your stories are interview-ready, not just well-intentioned — this is the version to choose.

The core method

What is the STAR method?

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result — a four-part structure interviewers use to evaluate behavioural questions, and the framework this entire programme is built around.

Situation Set the context — when, where, and what was happening before you acted.
Task What you were specifically responsible for, or what you were trying to achieve.
Action The specific steps you actually took — not what the team did, what you did.
Result The outcome — ideally stated as something measurable: a percentage, a timeframe, a scale.

Interviewers rely on STAR because it forces concrete, verifiable evidence instead of vague generalisations. Most candidates already know the STAR method exists — but knowing the concept and actually executing it fluently, under pressure, in a second language are very different things.

That gap is exactly what this programme closes. Unit 2 introduces STAR as a language structure, not just a concept — the specific tense contrasts, sequencing phrases, and causal connectors each stage needs — and every unit afterwards trains you to build a real STAR story with the vocabulary of a different competency category, until it becomes automatic rather than something you have to consciously construct in the room.

Who this is for

Professionals preparing to interview in English

You are applying for an international role and need to present your experience clearly and professionally in English.

You speak English well in everyday work but find behavioural interview questions — “Tell me about a time when...” — difficult to answer precisely.

You have strong professional experience but lack a structured approach for turning that experience into confident, well-formed answers.

You want expert eyes on your own stories — written and spoken — before you rely on them in a real interview.

The framework

Why these 8 categories?

This framework isn't drawn from a textbook. It comes from sitting on both sides of the interview table across a 25-year career in Investment Management and Banking, working as a Business Analyst and Project Manager across London, Luxembourg, and Paris — as a candidate answering these exact questions for real, and as an interviewer deciding who to hire.

Having interviewed candidates myself, I know precisely what separates an answer that actually lands from one that just sounds fluent. And having been interviewed many times over the course of that career, I know how differently that same distinction feels from the other side of the table, under real pressure.

These 8 categories are the recurring patterns I've seen, from both seats, in what interviewers are actually trying to assess — kept current through ongoing analysis of how those questions and expectations continue to shift.

How it works

Self-study on Moodle, supported by your tutor

01

Audio-first teaching

Each unit is delivered through audio explanations paired with visual reference pages. You listen to the teaching, then use the on-screen content as a reference to return to. No passive reading — the audio carries the learning.

02

Practice quizzes after every block

Each teaching block is followed immediately by a short quiz covering that block's language. You get feedback on every answer and can retry with guided hints. No question is left unanswered.

03

A glossary you build on

The course includes a populated glossary of grammar and interview vocabulary. You can add your own entries as you study, building a personal reference alongside the course content.

04

Assessed homework every unit

Each unit ends with a three-part homework task: a controlled transformation exercise, a written production task, and a recorded STAR story. Your tutor reviews all three and provides written feedback via Moodle.

05

Work at your own pace

The programme runs entirely on Moodle — no fixed session times. You complete each unit when it suits you. Teaching pages, quizzes, and audio remain available throughout the programme and after it ends.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What level of English do I need?

The course is written for B2 Upper-Intermediate learners — people who already speak English well at work but find behavioural interview questions (“Tell me about a time when...”) difficult to answer precisely.

How is the course delivered?

Entirely online, on our Moodle learning platform. Each unit is taught through audio explanations with visual reference pages and a written transcript for every audio, followed by practice quizzes with feedback and guided hints. You also get a populated glossary of grammar and interview vocabulary that you can add to as you study.

What does the homework involve?

Every unit ends with three tasks: a controlled transformation exercise on the unit’s target grammar and vocabulary, a written production task where you write your own answer from your real experience, and a recorded STAR story you deliver aloud. Your tutor reviews all three and sends you written feedback through Moodle.

What is the difference between the Full Course and the course without homework?

The teaching content and exercises are identical. The Full Course adds a three-part homework assignment at the end of every unit, with personal written feedback from your tutor on all three parts.

Are there fixed lesson times?

No. The course is self-paced — you complete each unit when it suits you. Teaching pages, quizzes, and audio remain available throughout the programme and after it ends.

How do I access the course after buying?

The course runs on Moodle, and you sign in with the same account you use on this website — there is no separate login to create.

Can I try the course before buying?

Yes. A free sample lesson covering two of the eight competency categories — Problem-Solving & Decision-Making and Adaptability & Change Management — uses the same audio-first teaching style as the full programme. It needs a free account for access, but never payment details.
